LANstation Novell Remote Booting and DOS 5

We have had a report of LANstations fitted with Vr 1.2.20 Novell Remote Boot ROMs hanging as APRUMB.SYS is loaded under DOS 5.

After some investigation, it has been found that the problem is related to the size of the 1.2.20 NRB ROMs, and the fact that APRUMB by default will load over part of the ROM code.

A solution, using Version 1.03 of APRUMB.SYS, is as follows.

Where APRUMB.SYS is loaded in CONFIG.SYS, change the line to include the following:-

DEVICE=APRUMB.SYS X=E800-F000

This will configure APRUMB to avoid the area of memory where the NRB ROMs are located.

A permanent fix for this problem should be included in the next release of the LANstation Novell Remote Boot ROMs, and may also be included in later releases of APRUMB.SYS.
