Windows NT with BusLogic cards and Maxtor hard drives

There is currently a problem with Windows NT having hard drive and SCSI controller problems, causing file corruption.

The problems only appear on a FT//s or FT//e running Windows NT with a BusLogic SCSI controller and Maxtor hard drives.

The problem is down to the fact that the Maxtor hard drive does not support Tagged Command Queuing. Windows NT by default has Tagged Command Queuing set to enabled.

To resolve the problem the System Registry requires editing to disable Tagged Command Queuing on the BusLogic controller card.

The following steps should be taken to modify the System Registry:-

Run the program REGEDT32 to invoke the System Registry Editor

Select the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE on Local Machine section

Select SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Services

Buslogic

Once Buslogic is selected, add the following by using Add Key :-

Parameters

Device0

Select Device0, choose Edit and Add Value

Enter Value: DisableTaggedQueuing, change the data type to REG_DWORD

Enter data: 1

Once the above has been completed exit the System Registry, shutdown and restart Windows NT.
