Windows NT and Seagate Elite 2GB Hard Disk Drives

Problems have been found when installing Windows NT on a Seagate Elite 2GB hard drive with a BusLogic SCSI controller.

If Windows NT is installed with the NTFS file system, and the maximum primary partition is used (2030 MB), Windows NT hangs upon re-booting, after installation.

If Windows NT is installed with the FAT file system the problem does not occur.

To overcome the problem the primary partition should be set to 2000 MB or less. Windows NT can then be installed successfully with the NTFS file system. The remaining drive capacity can be configured an additional partition.
