Configuring XEN-PC & XEN-PCM Pentium machines for add-in cards using shared RAM

By default the shared memory on the machine is disabled. Thus if a card needs to use shared RAM it is unable to do so.

To enable this function follow these steps :

  1. Press F1 (at boot time) to invoke setup.

  2. Select Advanced CMOS Setup.

  3. The 2 regions that need to be changed are :

    Disable shadow memory size DISABLE
    Disable shadow memory base C0000

    Shadow memory size, needs to be set to the amount of shared RAM needed by the interface card.

    Values are 16 KB, 32 KB, 48 KB and 64 KB.

    Shadow memory base, needs to be set to the start address of the shared RAM on the interface card.

    Values are *C0000, *C4000, C8000, CC000, D0000, D4000, D8000 and DC000.

  4. Write to CMOS and Exit.

    Note:

    * Not available because occupied by video RAM.

    F000 - FFFF Motherboard BIOS
    E000 - EFFF Reserved
    C800 - DFFF Available
    C000 - C7FF Video
