Insight Release 9 NetWare 4.10 Update Files and NPRINTER.EXE

It has been found that the NetWare 4.10 Update Files on the Apricot Insight CD release 9 contain a version of NPRINTER.EXE that should not be used with NetWare 4.10. When trying to run the version from the CD on a NetWare 4.10 installation, the following message will be seen...

NPRINTER-DOS-4.01-998: The message file found (NPRINTER.MSG) is an incorrect version.
The correct version is v4.01.
See your network supervisor for assistance.

The documentation supplied with the archive file that this update came from (PS4X03.EXE) indicated that the updates applied to NetWare 4.01, 4.02 and 4.10, but on closer inspection, it has been found that the NPRINTER.EXE file within the archive should only be used with NetWare 4.01 and 4.02.

If the 4.10 update has been applied from the Apricot Insight CD release 9, it is necessary to re-install the NPRINTER.EXE file from the NetWare 4.10 installation CD. NPRINTER.EXE is in the NW410\PUBLIC\DOS directory on the NetWare 4.10 CD, and it should be copied to the SYS:\PUBLIC directory.

If the NetWare 4.10 Installation CD is not readily available, the NPRINTER.EXE file can be downloaded from Apricot Insight BBS as 410NPT.EXE (in file area 37). The file is also available from the Internet on Apricot’s FTP server (ftp.apricot.co.uk) and World Wide Web page (http://www.apricot.co.uk).

Future Insight CD releases will not have this problem.
