Windows 95 Software Updates
Since the release of Windows 95 in August 1995, Microsoft have released
a number of updates and enhancements to the operating system. Recently, Microsoft
re-packaged a number of these into a released service pack for Windows 95. The list below
contains recommended updates from Microsoft for Windows 95. All the files were obtained
from Microsoft, and can be found in File Area 7 of Apricot Insight BBS.
- W95_SP1.EXE
This file contains Microsofts Windows 95 Service Pack 1. There is a corresponding
W95_SP1.TXT, which is the readme file for the Service Pack. It contains the Microsoft and
NetWare file and print sharing update, the OLE32 update, the SHELL32 update, the password
list update, and some previously unreleased printer port updates and Plus! System Agent
updates.
- EXCHUPD.EXE
This file contains an update to the Exchange client that ships with Windows 95 that,
amongst other things, allows the use of Shared Folders on MS-Mail postoffices.
- MSNDS.EXE
This file contains the Microsoft released NDS Client Service for Windows 95, that allows a
Windows 95 NetWare client to log into NetWare 4.x servers using NDS.
There are numerous other updates and enhancements in File Area 7, but
the above three files are considered to be worth highlighting.
