SCO Xenix 386 VR 2.3.1 and the Line Printer Spooler

A problem in the SCO Xenix Line Printer Scheduler can cause printer ports to hang up after a certain number of jobs have been printed. The problem is caused by the scheduler closing a port before all output has been drained.

If the problem is reported on a site, it can be avoided by adding an extra 'stty' command line to the printer interface script before the 'exit 0' line at the bottom of the script. It is usually simplest to copy the existing 'stty' line from earlier in the script. The scripts are to be found in the directory '/usr/spool/lp/interface'.
