SCO NFS and SCO TCP/IP

Several problems have demonstrated themselves with the installation of SCO TCP/IP 1.1.3f and SCO NFS 1.1.1. Firstly, it is important to install the products in the following order:

SCO TCP/IP Runtime
SCO TCP/IP Maintenance Supplement
SCO NFS Maintenance Supplement
SCO NFS Runtime

This ordering will prevent kernel build errors when installing the NFS Runtime System.

Please do not alter the value of NOFILES in the Unix kernel, any change to this value from the default of 60 may result in SCO NFS failing to work correctly. Systems where software requires this value to be increased will not be able to run SCO NFS until SCO produce a version which allows this parameter to be altered.

Problems encountered with NFS can be caused by a core file existing in one of the directories addressed by NFS. Always ensure that no core files exist particularly in the root directory before restarting NFS if problems have occurred
