External 150MB Archive Streamer

Some problems have been encountered with our previous recommendations on settings for the external Archive 150MB tape unit. We have therefore re-examined the settings and would now suggest the following options in addition to those detailed in IPB 3123.

For XEN-S / XEN-LS running SCO Xenix 2.3.4, configure the hardware jumpers as described below:-

 

(A) IRQ DRQ DACK

(B) BASE I/O PORT ADDRESS
ON 3
ON 4
ON 5
ON 6
ON 7
off 8
off 9
ON 10

 

Now carry out the following commands in Xenix:-

cd /usr/sys/conf

./configure -c -d -m 6 -v 5

Now run mkdev tape setting the values as given below:-

Card Type: 1
DMA Channel: 1
Interrupt: 5
I/O Port address: 0300H

Some revisions of reference disk do not provide the option of 310H documented in IPB 3123 for I/O port address on MCA machines. Should this be the case please use 0308H and modify the software installation correspondingly.
