Pentium Servers and Specialix

Intermediate Product Bulletin 3147 strongly recommended the installation of only the latest UNIX 3.2v4.2 or Open Server 3.0 on Pentium based UNIX servers. Further evidence of a need to follow this policy has been fed back from our colleagues at Microdynamics who reported difficulties in getting standard Specialix MCA cards recognised in an FT//s when using UNIX 3.2v4.1.

On installing 3.2v4.2 with the same Specialix driver (7.0) the serial ports were immediately all recognised and available for use. Although earlier versions of SCO UNIX have been shown to run on Pentium servers we would like to once again re-emphasise that UNIX 3.2v4.2/Open Server 3.0 are the only recommended UNIX revisions for these machines.
