Server Environment for UNIX

Release 8.1 server environment for SCO UNIX is either available now or will be in the immediate future. This release should routinely be used to replace existing installations of release 7.1 where the UPS software is installed on FT// series MCA servers.

The UPS software from Release 7.1 of the Server Environment Pack for UNIX may cause intermittent hangs on all FT//e and FT//s servers and should no longer be installed on MCA-2 servers.

Release 8.1 is currently recommended only for use in servers with BusLogic MDA SCSI cards installed. FT//s and FT//e machines using Adaptec SCSI cards should not at this time have UPS software installed as this may still cause intermittent hanging of the system even with Release 8.1. This problem is still under investigation by Research & Development.

Please ensure that when installing the UPS software interrupt 10 is selected (this is NOT the default) and the reference disk changed appropriately. To ensure the software is set to interrupt 10, check the file /etc/conf/sdevice.d/Aser matches the line below.

Aser Y 1 5 3 10 0 0 0 0
