Microsoft Windows 95 Updates

Since the initial release of Windows 95 in August 1995, Microsoft have issued a number of patches, updates, and enhancements for the operating system. These updates have been documented previously in IPBs 2247, 2257 and 2259, however due to recent problems that have been raised with technical support, it has been decided to list all the patches and updates in one source. All of the files documented below can be found in file area 7 of the Apricot Insight BBS, and are also on the Insight Classic CD.

Note: These updates do NOT apply to version 4.00.950B of Windows 95.

W95_SP1.EXE *
This file contains Microsoft’s Windows 95 Service Pack 1.

BACKUPD2.EXE
This file contains an update to the Windows 95 backup utility.

COVER_PG.EXE
This file contains a fix for MS FAX cover pages not being displayed.

DSKTSUPD.EXE *
This file contains an update to the Windows 95 disk type specific driver.

KRNLUPD.EXE *
This file contains a fix to the Windows 95 Kernel32 module.

MSPWLUP2.EXE *
This file contains an update to the Windows 95 password list function.

OLEUPD.EXE *
This file contains an update to the OLE32 components in Windows 95.

WSIPXUPD.EXE *
This file contains an update to the IPX/SPX protocol module supplied with Windows 95.

* These updates are recommended on all Windows 95 (4.00.950 and 4.00.950a) installations.
